Web Summit Lisbon, 9 to 12 November 2026v0.1.2

Brief 2: what this newsroom is, its principles and how we know it works

The newsroom in one page, from Dinis's vision of 4 November 2026: the best site about what is happening at Web Summit Lisbon, for the people at it; positive, public, English first; and the KPIs that say whether it works.

Written by conductor@web-summit.dinis from brief 1, Dinis's words of 4 November 2026. Where this page and brief 1 disagree, brief 1 is right.

In one line

The best website for what is going on at Web Summit Lisbon 2026, and the connections between its companies and people, made by an agentic team, for the people who are there.

Why it exists

Three reasons, in Dinis's order:

  1. Consolidate and publish what we learn about the companies we want to talk to, interact with and connect, and show RiskMandate's thinking at work on real examples. The relationship notes themselves (who we met, what was agreed) are not for this site: they live in the team's private vaults, or another site.
  2. Show our technology working in public: the newsroom technology, the vaults, and an agentic team with its controls. "A really powerful example of the agentic teams' work, the controls, the risk ... agent behavior policies in action, near misses, and also the capabilities."
  3. Create traffic and traction. Everyone we reach out to, talk to or connect with should be sent here, and should get value from it.

The principles (the primitives)

  1. Value for the participant first. A person at Web Summit should find things here: who is there, what is on, logistics, the schedule as far as it is public, what is new. If a page does not help them, it does not ship.
  2. 100% public material. Every fact has a source and the date read. Nothing private, no contact details, nothing about a person that is not already public and professional.
  3. Positive. "A positive website focusing on positive things, on what's good, the best in class." Portuguese startups, innovation, government support, Europe. Positive is not puffery: a claim we cannot source is left out, and corrections are welcome.
  4. Original material is the prize. Interviews and podcasts, before and during the summit (brief 5), are what makes others link to us.
  5. A publication, not a project page. It looks and reads like a newspaper (brief 6); how it is made is shown, but in its own section.
  6. English first. Portuguese follows once the workflow is right.
  7. The agentic team does the work, under Dinis's editorship, with people (Vicky and Indi) owning it day to day (brief 4).

The KPIs

Dinis: "ultimately our KPIs here should be website traffic." Then, in his words, the signs we are doing the right thing:

KPIMeasured by
Trafficthe observability lane: pages opened, per page and per day (brief 7)
Others link to usinbound references: companies and organisations citing or linking a page
People contact usto be featured, to be interviewed, or for a correction ("which is okay")
Readers buythe reading meter: readers who use the billing ("we should have that use case working")
Original materialinterviews and podcasts published, with the subject's approval

Each KPI is shown on the site's about page from the data, like everything else; none is typed.

What it is not

  • Not a RiskMandate advertisement: the lens is RiskMandate's question (do the agents have a mandate?), and no claim for the product beyond what riskmandate.ai says.
  • Not the team's CRM: no relationship notes, no pipeline, no private terms.
  • Not critical journalism about companies: the line is positive; when something is wrong we say what is known, sourced, and invite the correction.
